About Yap
Free, open source voice dictation for macOS. On-device transcription with Apple's Speech framework. No cloud/no API keys/no account.
How to install Yap on a Mac
- Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
- Search for Yap and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 0.1.13 from FrigadeHQ's own GitHub release.
- Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.
Updates to Yap show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.
Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: Yap.dmg (1.4 MB).
What is new in Yap 0.1.13
- Fixed dictation intermittently not pasting into Electron-based terminals (e.g. cmux). The clipboard was being restored before the app finished reading the pasted text; it now waits long enough for the paste to land.
