How to install Sonor on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Sonor and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 0.9.3 from sonor-studio's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Sonor show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: Sonor.0.9.3.Beta.dmg (15 MB).

## 🚀 The New Model Manager & MLX Architecture
* **Apple MLX Framework**: Sonor has been entirely rewritten under the hood to leverage Apple's MLX framework for state-of-the-art hardware acceleration, leaving behind the older `whisper.cpp` specific implementations.
* **Redesigned Model Hub**: Explore and compare a wide range of MLX transcription models in our entirely redesigned hub. Includes new accuracy and speed progress bars, rich metadata, and a robust new downloading interface.
* **Graceful Out-Of-Memory Handling**: No more crashes! The application now intercepts memory limits and provides a friendly interface in the overlay to let you safely retry the transcription.

## ⚡ Core Engine & Workflow Improvements
* **Zero-Latency Audio Engine**: We rebuilt the audio system from the ground up. The microphone triggers instantly with zero delay, permanently fixing the issue of clipped words at the start of recordings (especially with Bluetooth headphones). It now also automatically restarts the engine when you switch your audio input device!
* **Smart Automatic Hotkeys**: Forget manually choosing between "click-to-talk" and "push-to-talk". The new automatic hotkey mode dynamically detects your behavior.
