How to install Quill on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Quill and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.0.0 from skundu42's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Quill show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

What is new in Quill 1.0.0

Quill 1.0.0 improves dictation, microphone, shortcut, and update reliability.

## What's fixed

- Cancelled sessions no longer insert stale text or interfere with the next dictation.
- Finalization waits for the final transcript instead of treating model-turn completion as transcription completion.
- Text insertion verifies the original field before typing or pasting, with a clipboard fallback when that target is unavailable.
- Switching to System Default selects the correct microphone, and stereo input preserves speech from both channels.
- Escape cancels hold-to-speak dictation while the shortcut modifiers remain pressed.
- Shortcut recording supports keyboard and accessibility activation.
- Fixed onboarding window crashes and disappearing recording indicators after quick restarts.
- Settings commands use one window, and automatic-update settings reflect Sparkle's actual preferences.
- Releases publish after signed, notarized downloads are ready. Duplicate UI and unused code have been removed.
