Tiny macOS menu bar dictation that never leaves your Mac — on-device speech recognition, German first.

How to install inlaut on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for inlaut and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 0.3.0 from tobymarks's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to inlaut show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

What is new in inlaut 0.3.0

Neue Spracherkennung auf der Neural Engine – new speech recognition on the Neural Engine.

- **Parakeet Ultra:** läuft jetzt als Core ML auf der Neural Engine deines Mac. In unseren Messungen macht es weniger Fehler als bisher, auf Deutsch, auf Englisch und bei gemischten Sätzen, und schreibt ß und Satzpunkte von sich aus.
- **Schneller und sparsamer:** Ein Diktat von zehn Minuten ist in etwa drei Sekunden Text. Im Leerlauf braucht inlaut rund 60 MB Arbeitsspeicher statt über 600 MB und kaum noch Prozessorleistung. Das Update ist nur noch halb so groß.
- **Ein Modell für alles:** Deutsch, English und Deutsch + English nutzen dasselbe Modell. Beim Wechsel der Sprache wird nichts mehr heruntergeladen.
- **Ersetzungen mit Zusammenhang:** Eine Regel darf das Wort davor enthalten. „das Damm → das DAM“ korrigiert das Kürzel und lässt einen echten Damm in Ruhe.
- **Grußformeln** vor „neue Zeile“ behalten ihr Komma („Viele Grüße,“).
- **Behoben:** Nach dem Laden eines Modells blieb bis zum Neustart viel Arbeitsspeicher belegt.
