How to install Digisensus Recorder on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Digisensus Recorder and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.2.0 from Digisensus's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Digisensus Recorder show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: Digisensus-Recorder-1.2.0-110.dmg (4.5 MB).

What is new in Digisensus Recorder 1.2.0

- Long calls now transcribe. A call over about 25 minutes used to fail with a server error while it was being transcribed; with Digisensus the app now hands the recording over, then checks back for the result until it is ready.
- A transcription in progress survives quitting the app or the Mac sleeping: on the next start, or after waking, the app picks it up where it was. A transcription that can't be resumed is marked failed instead of staying on "Transcribing…" for ever.
- Your own servers (OpenAI-compatible) work as before.

**Install:** open the DMG and drag Digisensus Recorder to Applications. Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon. The app is notarized and updates itself. The zip is the same app, as Sparkle downloads it.

**Verify the downloads:** each file has a detached GPG signature (`.asc`) from Digisensus <info@digisensus.com>, key `77CA787B6ACADFF0`. Import the key with `curl https://github.com/sauliuslt.gpg | gpg --import`, then `gpg --verify Digisensus-Recorder-1.2.0-110.dmg.asc Digisensus-Recorder-1.2.0-110.dmg`.
