How to install VirtualBuddy on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for VirtualBuddy and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 2.1 from insidegui's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to VirtualBuddy show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: VirtualBuddy_v2.1-325.dmg (17 MB).

 <li>VirtualBuddy can now import macOS virtual machines from UTM; drag a UTM virtual machine file into the VirtualBuddy icon in the Dock or right click a UTM virtual machine file and choose “Open With &gt; VirtualBuddy” ¹</li>
 <li>A new option in macOS virtual machine settings allows enabling or disabling the VirtualBuddyGuest app disk image which is automatically mounted by default</li>
 <li>VirtualBuddy now ensures that the guest app disk image is up to date before starting a virtual machine</li>
