About Screen Loupe

Native macOS screen loupe: a floating capture area mirrored live into a zoomable, pixel-sharp viewer

How to install Screen Loupe on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Screen Loupe and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.4.0 from ayenora's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Screen Loupe show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: ScreenLoupe-1.4.0.dmg (2.6 MB).

What is new in Screen Loupe 1.4.0

Screen Loupe 1.4 shows the screen as people with other colour vision see it, checks contrast in a redesigned Color Meter, compares the screen with itself before and after a change, and keeps your recent captures across launches.

## Install

1. Download `ScreenLoupe-1.4.0.dmg` below, open it and drag Screen Loupe to Applications, replacing the old copy. Or with Homebrew: `brew install --cask ayenora/tap/screen-loupe`, or `brew upgrade` if you have it.
2. Open it. The first time, grant Screen Recording access when the Viewer asks, then reopen the app when macOS says so. The permission is called "Screen & System Audio Recording"; the app captures no audio. If the Viewer still asks after an update, remove Screen Loupe from that list with −, add it again with + and reopen the app.

Requires macOS 15.2 Sequoia or later. Universal: Apple silicon and Intel.
