How to install Phosphene on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Phosphene and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.9.0 from kageroumado's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Phosphene show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: Phosphene-1.9.0.dmg (5.9 MB).

What is new in Phosphene 1.9.0

**Download:** [Phosphene-1.9.0.dmg](https://github.com/kageroumado/phosphene/releases/download/v1.9.0/Phosphene-1.9.0.dmg)

- Updates install again. Phosphene 1.8 was published under a name the updater could not find, so earlier versions never offered it. Update Now and automatic updates both work from this release on.
- The update badge and version chip only announce a release that can actually be installed.
- Phosphene checks GitHub for updates once a day instead of twice.
- When an update fails, the message says whether the release has no download or the download itself failed.
