About OpenPets

One shared macOS desktop pet for AI agents and apps, with MCP/CLI control and Codex Pets support.

How to install OpenPets on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for OpenPets and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 0.7.2 from alterhq's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to OpenPets show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: OpenPets-0.7.2.dmg (13 MB).

What is new in OpenPets 0.7.2

## Changelog

- Closed notification mode now briefly surfaces new bubbles for five seconds, then returns to the compact counter.
- Updates to an existing notification thread also surface temporarily while closed.
- Fixes a stale reveal-timer race so newer updates are not hidden early.
- Updates OpenPetsKit to 0.2.1.

## Verification

- OpenPetsKit `swift test` passed with 107 tests.
- OpenPets `swift test` passed with 93 tests.
- Release workflow completed successfully and uploaded DMG, ZIP, checksums, and Sparkle appcast assets.
