About On Hand

Free, open-source clipboard manager for macOS. Keep copied text, links, and images close at hand.

How to install On Hand on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for On Hand and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.1.0 from coreyhaines31's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to On Hand show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: OnHand-1.1.0.zip (2.0 MB).

What is new in On Hand 1.1.0

## What's new

- **Search text in images.** On Hand reads the text in images you copy, on your Mac, so you can find a screenshot by a word in it. Preview an image to select and copy its text.
- **Sensitive clips aren't saved.** Card numbers, US Social Security numbers, and common secret keys (AWS, Stripe, GitHub, Slack, and more) are skipped, including in screenshots. The menu bar icon briefly shows a raised hand when it happens. On by default; turn it off in Settings › Privacy.
- **Forget last copy.** Press ⌃⌥⌘⌫ to clear the system clipboard and delete the clip On Hand saved from it. Change the shortcut in Settings.
- **Pinboards.** Group pinned clips into named boards. Under Pinned, choose a board; right-click any clip and choose Pin to Board.

Your existing history is upgraded automatically. Images already in it are read in the background, and any saved clips that match the sensitive patterns are removed.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel. Signed and notarized by Apple.
