How to install Launchy on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for Launchy and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 2026.8.0 from Punshnut's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to Launchy show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

What is new in Launchy 2026.8.0

A feature release bringing Liquid Glass to macOS 26+, a configurable idle page-revert, smoother live search, and a handful of drag-and-drop and dismiss-gesture fixes. Launchy is now also licensed under AGPL-3.0.

- Adopted Liquid Glass on macOS 26+ for settings, floaty launcher, search bar, and onboarding, with material fallbacks for older systems
- Added configurable idle page-revert setting
- Softened accent-color vibrancy and polished the traffic lights
- Folders now close on background tap instead of hiding the launcher
- Launchy now remembers the current page and folder across quick toggles
- Self-built copies are now detected via code-signature check, with a hint linking to the official release

- Prewarmed search-result icons and cached low-res thumbnails to disk for smoother live search

- Fixed grid and folder icon drag-and-drop on macOS 27
- Fixed grid, folder, and search bar clicks being swallowed by the click-outside-to-dismiss gesture

- Fixed the launcher not appearing when Launchy is selected in the app switcher, not just on Dock icon click (#11)
- Fixed intentionally empty folders being dropped when restoring the arrangement (#16)
- Hardened global hotkey registration for future macOS releases with an event-monitor fallback and failure logging
