How to install CmdIME on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for CmdIME and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 0.18.4 from ShunmeiCho's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to CmdIME show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: CmdIME.zip (5.1 MB).

What is new in CmdIME 0.18.4

Control+Space can now be a trigger once you have turned off macOS's own input source shortcut.

### What changed

- **Control+Space.** CmdIME refused Control+Space and Control+Option+Space as "reserved by macOS input source switching" even after you turned those shortcuts off in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Input Sources. It now reads that setting and refuses a chord only while macOS still uses it. If you moved the macOS shortcut to another chord, that chord is the one refused.

### Known limits in this release

- The setting is read when you record a trigger. Turning the macOS shortcut back on later does not warn you; macOS then takes the chord first.
- Other macOS shortcuts (Spotlight, screenshots, Mission Control) are not checked yet.

### Checked on one Mac

- macOS 27.2, the owner's Mac, with both input source shortcuts turned off: `keyboardctl bind control+space peek` from the packaged build is accepted; `swift test` passes.
- The numbers come from one Mac. They say what was measured there.
