How to install ClaudeUsage on a Mac

  1. Get OpenDMG. It is a free app store for open source Mac apps. Download OpenDMG.
  2. Search for ClaudeUsage and press Get. OpenDMG downloads version 1.0 from davidlikescat's own GitHub release.
  3. Open it. The download is checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint and its signature is checked on your Mac before it lands in Applications.

Updates to ClaudeUsage show up in OpenDMG and install with one button. No account is needed.

Prefer to do it by hand? The developer's file is on GitHub: ClaudeUsage-1.0.dmg (542 KB).

What is new in ClaudeUsage 1.0

A macOS menu bar app that shows your Claude Code usage as a battery icon.

- Battery icon in the menu bar (green / yellow / red) for your current 5-hour session
- Popover with 5-hour and 7-day usage bars plus a countdown to the next reset
- Reads the OAuth token Claude Code already stores in your Keychain — no API key needed on Pro/Max
- Universal binary (Apple Silicon + Intel), macOS 13+

**Install:** open the DMG and drag ClaudeUsage to Applications.

**Note:** this build is unsigned. On first launch, right click ClaudeUsage.app -> Open to get past the Gatekeeper "unidentified developer" warning. Notarization is planned.
